This 2 1/2 hour class will help you learn such skills as bathing, diapering, comforting a crying baby, and recognizing signs of illness, as well as coping methods for the first few weeks of parenthood.

A free, informal sharing session for new parents and their babies. Discussion of family adjustments, working parents, breastfeeding, childcare, and other issues decided by the group.

Breastfeeding – The Next Time Around
A refresher breastfeeding class designed for expectant couples who have had a previous breastfeeding experience. Breastfeeding problems are often traumatic and couples need extra help to regain their self-confidence and specific information to help avoid repeating similar problems. This very interactive class will help identify the problems and difficulties that the mothers encountered. Much time will be given to question and answers. Methods and strategies will be explored to give each couple the edge that they need to have a successful breastfeeding experience the next time around.

Comfort Breathing and Relaxation for Labor and Birth
Comfort Breathing and Relaxation for Labor and Birth is designed to give families who have already taken a preparation for labor and birth class and are interested in the more natural approach, the tools that they need to help manage their own labors. The focus of the class will more intensely cover a wider range of comfort measures, relaxation breathing and partner involvement.
Prerequisite: MUST HAVE TAKEN A PREPARATION FOR LABOR AND BIRTH ONE DAY OR EVENING SERIES

One-Night Refresher Course
Prerequisite: Attended a labor and birth class with previous pregnancy, have had a vaginal birth and have previously delivered in the United States
A 3-hour class for families who have experienced labor, birth and parenting. Information about relaxation, breathing, medications and support techniques for labor. Includes discussion about sibling preparation. Maternity Tour is included as part of the class course.

Pregnant and Fit: Prenatal Yoga
The Pregnant and Fit Exercise Program is a 6 week prenatal yoga exercise class designed for women up to 8 months pregnant. The class is led by a certified Pre and Post Natal Exercise instructor and meets for forty-five minutes. Participants are required to obtain a medical release from their doctor and must discontinue the class if any complications arise. The course will help develop stamina, flexibility and other skills useful for labor and delivery and postpartum recovery. With the focus on strengthening and stretching, individuals will learn how to manage the physical discomforts that so often come with the changes of pregnancy. As well as feeling pregnant and fit, mothers-to-be will have an opportunity to meet and share with other pregnant women the variety of experiences that pregnancy has to offer.

Preparing to Breastfeed
A 2-1/2 hour class to teach the art of breastfeeding to expectant parents. Learn about prenatal preparation, getting started, understanding your baby's cues, timing feedings, expressing and storing milk, bottles and your breastfed baby, and more. Taught by a trained breastfeeding specialist.

A virtual maternity tour is included as part of this class.

Preparation for Natural Labor and Birth
This 6-week series is specifically designed for families who are interested in natural childbirth. Discussion includes factual and knowledge based information of the normal physiological and emotional patterns of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum and common variations on these usual patterns. The class will also cover a wide range of labor coping skills and techniques: comfort measures, optimal positioning for baby and mother, relaxation breathing and partner and other labor support. A maternity tour is included as part of this class. Classes are held on six weekday evenings.

A one-hour class for siblings ages 2-7. The class includes a mini tour of the family-care unit only (may not be available due to medical procedures or high census), a snack and various activities about being a big brother or sister. 2009
