Preparing for Labor and Birth eClass
Our online class is ideal for those expectant parents who can’t attend an on-site childbirth class due to work schedules, time constraints, or medical conditions. It is excellent refresher course for next-time around parents.This is a self-paced class that can be taken at your convenince.
The eight-chapter program is an interactive, web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach all the essential information parents need to know to prepare for their birth.
This e-learning program includes evidence based information that will help you:
· Understand pregnancy – what’s happening to your body, discomforts, warning signs, nutrition, exercise, and more
· Learn about labor – preparing for birth, pre-labor signs, onset of labor, 3D animation of labor process, and more
· See how the stages of labor unfold – watch amazing real-life birth stories
· Discover helpful comfort techniques – breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, hydrotherapy, labor and pushing positions, advice for partners , and more

Virtual Maternity Tour
A virtual maternity tour can be viewed on our Online Maternity Tour. Questions related to obstetric services at Sibley are answered on the presentation. Resources are listed for those questions that require a more depth explanation.

Chilbirth Classes On-Site:
It is recommended that you take a class during the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy. However, we suggest registering during your first trimester or as soon as classes are available. Classes fill up quickly so make sure to plan ahead.
Babycare Skills
This class will help you learn such skills as bathing, diapering, comforting a crying baby, and recognizing signs of illness, as well as coping methods for the first few weeks of parenthood.

Preparing for Cesarean
Preparing for Cesarean is designed to prepare families for a planned Cesarean birth. Discussion includes factual and knowledge based information about Cesarean birth, surgical procedures, anesthesia, recovery, and the role of the support person.

Preparing to Breastfeed
This class teaches the art of breastfeeding to expectant parents. Learn about prenatal preparation, getting started, understanding your baby's cues, timing feedings, expressing and storing milk, bottles and your breastfed baby, and more. Taught by a trained breastfeeding specialist.

Preparing for Labor and Birth One-Day Intensive
Preparing for Labor and Birth - One Day Intensive class is designed to prepare families for their first labor and birth experience. This childbirth class provides evidence based information on the physiological and emotional aspects of labor and delivery through lecture, discussion, video and hands on practice. Our goal is to increase your confidence and reduce anxiety about the birthing process. Elements of natural and medicated birth will be equally discussed to include the role of the partner, labor coping techniques, medical interventions, medications, cesarean birth and postpartum. Instructors are registered nurses who are certified childbirth educators. Dress comfortably and bring 2 pillows and a blanket to a class. A Maternity tour is included as part of this class.
Class meets on Saturdays or Sundays in one 8-hour session. There will be one-hour lunch break. Lunch is not included in a class fee; feel free to bring your own, eat in a hospital cafeteria or nearby restaurants.

Preparing for Labor and Birth Evening Sessions
Preparing for Labor and Birth - Evening Sessions class is designed to prepare families for their first labor and birth experience. Facility Tours:
Sibling Tour
The Sibling tour for 2 - 6 year olds is a brief tour of our Family Centered Care Unit. Take a peak in our nursery and visit a postpartum room (availability permitting). Your child will be presented with an activity packet along with selected handouts for parents to ease the transition for big brothers and sisters.
When: Weekend
Tours are held at 9:30am and 10:30am. You can register in Calendar of Events by clicking on a tour for the particular time.

Parents, we can accommodate limited number of children per tour, please register under your child's name only; one registration per child. ( Two adults may accompany but no need to register; parents' names and additional information could be recorded under a comment section.)

Maternity Tour
Visit the Labor and Delivery and Family Centered Care Units in advance of the birth of your baby. This complimentary tour is designed primarily to help you become familiar with our facility and amenities offered. You will be able to view our laboring suit as well as postpartum unit (availability permitting) and also receive information on pre-registration process.
It is recommended that you take a tour 4-6 weeks before your due date. Please register early to reserve a spot as we can accomodate limitted number of participant per tour in a respect of our patients' comfort, safety and privacy.
On-line registration is required and we appologize as we would not be able to "squeeze in" anyone when classes are filled up. To register go to Calendar of events under Community page or click here.
Tour is for the adults only and you can register up to two participants per family. Children of any age are not allowed on Labor and Delivery unit, however, we do have complimentary Sibling Tours for children ages 2-6. To register for a Sibling Tour click here.
If you are attending Preparation for Labor and Birth, Cesarean or a Refresher class, Maternity Tour is already included in those sessions and you do not have to register separately.
