Pictures in a Box:
An arts and memory project
When: every first Friday of the month, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Where: Sibley Medical Building, Conference Room 5
Why: supports people with a diagnoses of Alzheimers/Dementia and their care partners by creating memory pictures of old photographs with description of sensory memories to describe the feelings, who, what, where, when, and why of the context of the picture. The set of photos can be used as memory cards for both caregivers and participants with a diagnosis.
What: In the 1.5 hour session, participants can be helped to mount their photos and create text.
Facilitated by Erin Brindle, ATR-BC, LPC, an art therapist involved in the Pictures in a Box project for the past year. She has worked at Sibley Memorial Hospital for 8 years leading art therapy and movement groups.
