The Marriage Sabbatical

After 30 years of marriage, Sabina Shalom asked her husband for a leave of absence with pay, put a pack on her back, and traveled 50,000 miles alone around the world on $1,500 to return to refresh her stale marriage. Her book, A Marriage Sabbatical, is a timeless story now available as an Amazon five-star-rated paperback.
Born and educated in England, the psychologist and social worker volunteered to work with concentration camp survivors in Europe after the war and, later, to direct an operation that placed orphans in foster homes. After marriage and a move to the U.S, she became a broadcast journalist and a contributing editor in both Detroit and in South America. Later she resumed volunteer activities—as
a reader for the blind and hospice volunteer. She was recently honored by the National Association of Social Workers with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her 50 years of
dedicated service.
