Managing Stress and Improving Your Well-Being
Improve your health, happiness and quality of life by learning various stress management techniques, such as mindfulness meditation and breathing, body scan, walking meditation and gentle stretching. Understand the wide variety of causes and effects of stress. Learn a variety of techniques and what works best for you. Also, learn how to tap into your inner strength to become more mindful and oriented in the present in different aspects of your life. To experience the benefits of the class, participants are encouraged to make a personal commitment to practicing the techniques at home. This commitment can be a challenging one and may encourage a lifestyle change.
This course is for beginners and is designed to teach people how to (a) better take care of themselves using mindfulness techniques; and (b) participate fully in improving the health and quality of their lives as they work with various types of "stressors" or suffering that are limiting the life they would like to live.

Albert (Al) Zara
is a former medical/mechanical engineer with an intense avocation for teaching/ facilitating Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas for 15 years. After overcoming his personal anxiety issues, Al embarked along a path of attending MBSR-teaching classes at the Omega Institute in NY, taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D., from the University of MA Medical Center. Al increased his expertise in MBSR by attending advanced training at the University of MA Medical Center and the University of PA Medical Center. He recently retired from a career in the federal government to devote more time to teaching
stress management to adults and teens.
