Palliative Care: Knowledge is Power

Join us to learn about the growing field of palliative medicine. Hear updates on advancement of care and relieving symptoms at any stage of illness to enhance quality of life.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative Care is dedicated care provided by a team of palliative care physicians, nurses, chaplains and other specialists to provide relief of the symptoms, pain, suffering and stress of serious illness regardless of the diagnosis.  Members of this team work with the patient’s primary physician to create a comprehensive plan across the continuum of care.  Palliative Care helps at any stage of illness and can serve as a complement to curative treatments or be the primary focus of care.

How Can Palliative Care Help Me?

The Palliative Care team identifies the individual needs of each patient and their family. The team provides emotional support to enhance quality of life and to clarify the individual’s goals of care.  Palliative Care brings expertise in symptom management and the transitions of care related to serious illness, ensuring that open and honest communication occurs.
