Book Marks: Coffee & Camaraderie

Tragedy, recovery and family
The Thread: A Novel,
by Victoria Hislop
Dimitri is born in 1917 in
Thessaloniki, Greece, a multicultural
city, where Jews, Christians and
Muslims live side by side. Katerina
arrives as a refugee to Greece five
years later. Their lives will be
entwined over the next 80 years—
through Nazi occupation, civil war,
persecution and economic collapse.
In Thessaloniki in 2007, a young

story for the first time and understand
he has a momentous decision
to make.
