The Works of Robert Service

Robert Service has often been called the "Bard of the Yukon." Best known for "The Cremation of Sam McGee" and "The Shooting of Dan McGrew," his poetry has remained popular, in spite of being panned by the critics of his day.He claimed he was not a poet, rather a writer of verse.

Marti Bailey, a fan of the humor of Robert Service poetry, will talk about the life and love of Robert Service and read and discuss some of the hilarious and pointedly direct verse he wrote. If you have a favorite Service piece, tell Marti when you register and she will weave it into the presentation.
