Macular Degeneration & First Connection Resource Sharing Group

12/16/12

For those with vision loss due to eye disorders affecting central vision and other eye concerns.
Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the most common eye condition among people age 50 and older. It gradually can destroy the macula, the part of the eye that provides sharp central vision needed for seeing
objects clearly. Despite the limited vision, AMD does NOT cause complete blindness; however, it can present many unexpected new challenges. Sibley Senior Association co-sponsors the Macular Degeneration Network along with Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington to offer opportunities to share the latest research findings, low vision rehabilitation techniques, information about accessible technology, transportation, recreation and fellowship to assist you or someone you know to maximize independence.
