The MRI Suite at Sibley Memorial Hospital
The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation MRI suite combines a state-of-the-art facility and equipment with dedicated, experienced and caring specialists. Located in a private, spacious suite within Sibley, one of the area's most respected acute-care hospitals, you are assured of imaging excellence in a comfortable environment. The suite is self-contained with its own waiting and dressing rooms.
This suite features 2 high field (1.5T) MRI units. These MRI systems are capable of imaging standard anatomy such as knees, spine, brain and abdomen. Additionally, these systems are capable of performing advanced imaging techniques such as MR Angiography (MRA), breast MRI and interventional procedures of the breast.
What is MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), a non-invasive method of imaging internal structures of the body, is a remarkable advance in technology used to visualize diseases and injuries that are not accessible with standard imaging techniques. Computers generate a picture based on the body's response to magnetic fields and radio waves. During the examination, you will not receive exposure to radiation or experience any physical sensations other than a "knocking" sound as the machine performs the scan.
All studies are supervised and read by one of our board-certified physicians who also have advanced training in MRI interpretation. Written results will be sent to your physician.
In addition to rigorous radiological certification, our technologists have advanced certification in MRI. They will insure that you are properly prepared, explain your exam, let you know what to expect and answer any question you may have. Sibley MRI services are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
