Ruth Uppercu Paul, a cancer survivor and a noted philanthropist, has made a $1 million gift to the Sibley Center for Gynecologic Oncology and Advanced Pelvic Surgery in honor of Jeffrey Y. Lin, M.D., the Sibley surgeon who cured her stage IV ovarian cancer and the director of the Sibley Center for Gynecologic Oncology and Advanced Pelvic Surgery. Miss Paul’s generous gift will establish the Ruth Uppercu Paul Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Plater has been appointed vice president of human resources for the Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) Community Division, effective September 16, 2014. Sibley Memorial Hospital has been recognized for excellence in quality health care by the Delmarva Foundation of the District of Columbia, receiving the organization’s 2014 Delmarva Foundation Excellence Award for Quality Improvement. Sibley also received the award last year. Sibley was the only D.C. hospital to receive the coveted award this year.
