Earthquake Notice - UPDATED

1620 Hours
The DC Fire Department inspected the structures at Sibley and we did not experience any damage either externally or internally.
In addition, below you will find information and guidance on earthquakes:
Aftershocks can occur in the first hours, days, weeks, or even months after the quake.
If aftershocks materialize, remember to:
- Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything that could fall, such as light fixtures or furniture.

- If you evacuate a building, move as far away from that facility as possible.
1430 Hours
The U.S. Geological Survey reports a preliminary magnitude 5.9 earthquake was felt across much of the Mid-Atlantic region Tuesday afternoon at 151 PM EDT. The epicenter was located approximately 34 miles northwest of Richmond Virginia or 87 miles southwest of Washington DC.
