November 23, 2011
October 19, 2011 – The District of Columbia Hospital Association’s (DCHA) Board of Directors honored Robert L. Sloan, President and CEO of Sibley Memorial Hospital, by establishing a Leadership Award in his name at the organizations’ 33rd Annual Banquet. The award will be presented annually to an individual from one of the member hospitals selected by the Board as having demonstrated the qualities of leadership inspired by Sloan.
Sloan was recognized for a lifetime of service to health care and to the District’s hospitals. "Under his tenure, Bob has overseen significant change and dynamic growth at Sibley. His leadership has led to improved and expanded clinical services, technology, facilities, quality, safety, finances and personnel. His personal qualities have only increased his effectiveness and made him a pleasure to work with. Bob’s leadership has helped Sibley to become an operational force in the District’s health care community," commented John Rockwood, Chairman of the DHCA’s Board of Directors. Sloan plans to retire in July 2012 after 26 years of service at Sibley.
Sloan was presented with a framed enlarged letter, which reads, in part, "…We all cherish and respect you more than we can express and more than you will ever know. Your immense leadership skills coupled with your affable style have set a standard that we all can hope to follow and aspire to achieve."
