February 7, 2013
This distinction demonstrates the Sullivan Breast Center’s dedication to improving women’s health by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs. The Center’s breast MRI and breast MRI interventional program also received full voluntary accreditation until June 2014.
The ACR identifies breast imaging centers that earn accreditation in the College’s entire voluntary, breast imaging accreditation programs and modules. The Sullivan Center’s accreditation covers mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
In 2007, the ACR began recognizing breast imaging centers that achieve excellence. As of January, 2013, 982 out of the more than 8,650 mammography facilities nationwide have earned this distinction. Headquartered in Reston, Va., the ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
The Sullivan Breast Center is a comprehensive breast health center that organizes multidisciplinary services into a fully integrated system of care. Breast imaging, breast cancer and breast reconstruction surgery, radiation oncology, physical therapy and other key teams collaborate closely to ensure the well-being of each patient.
