Sibley’s Sullivan Breast Center Receives Three Year FDA Accreditation

June 13, 2013

The Sullivan Breast Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital passed their annual Food & Drug Administration (FDA) inspection in full compliance of accreditation standards on June 3, 2013.

Conducted once a year, the FDA inspection involves the examination of all equipment, personnel, and policies and procedures. Meeting the FDA regulation standards ensures that a facility provides safe and effective health care across all areas. The report states that all items were in compliance and the Center has met the annual Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) Inspection requirements.

In addition, the Center received three year re-accreditation for each of their mammography machines, including 3D. The Mammography Accreditation Program provides facilities with peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, image quality and radiation dose, and is granted by the America College of Radiology (ACR) Committee on Mammography.
The Sullivan Breast Center is a comprehensive breast health center that organizes multidisciplinary services into a fully integrated system of care. Breast imaging, breast cancer and reconstruction surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, physical therapy and other key teams collaborate closely to ensure the well-being of each patient. The Center has emerged as a national model in providing expert care using the most minimally invasive treatments possible.
