January 15, 2014
Sibley Memorial Hospital was named a "top vote-getter" in both the "Best Emergency Room" and "Best Heart/Stroke Care" categories by Bethesda Magazine’s "Best of Bethesda 2014."
The Emergency Department (ED)
at Sibley practices leading-edge emergency medicine in a patient friendly environment. Sibley’s ED cares for approximately 30,000 patients each year and over the past four years Sibley has maintained its 98th percentile Press Ganey patient satisfaction ratings, putting them in the top 2% of all Emergency Departments nationwide.
"We’ve streamlined processes, improved flow, introduced bedside registration and cut turnaround time for test results. The sooner we can see patients, the faster we can help," explains Jennifer Abele, M.D., medical director, Sibley Emergency Department.
Last year, the Sibley Stroke Center
was recognized by the Joint Commission, in conjunction with The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, with Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. "Having this high level of specialized 24-7 stroke care close to home is crucial for our community," stresses Jason Freeman, M.D.
, medical director, Sibley Stroke Program. Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification signifies an organization’s dedication to fostering better outcomes for patients. Experienced neurologists provide consultations and Sibley nurses and the entire stroke team have specialized training, so every patient receives the same consistently high quality of care. Sibley’s Certification demonstrates that our program meets critical elements of performance to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.
