The Sibley Renaissance Earns Five-Star Quality Rating
July 25, 2013
[WASHINGTON, D.C.; JULY, 2013] Sibley Memorial Hospital’s Renaissance Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility has earned a Five-Star Quality Rating from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for excellence in three key quality performance domains: quality measures, staffing and annual health inspections.
The Five-Star Quality Rating was received for the third and fourth quarters of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013. Earning this rating indicates that the Renaissance has satisfied on-site inspections for the last three years, fulfilled staffing levels based on resident needs and achieved high quality for both physical and clinical quality measures.
Collectively, the ratings for each domain are combined to calculate an overall rating that is designed to give consumers a depiction of the care that individual nursing facilities provide. The Five-Star Rating System allows consumers and their families to compare nursing facilities in order to identify areas of concern or deficient practice. CMS utilizes its own database, health Inspection results and a federally mandated national database known as Minimum Data Set (MDS) to compile its ratings.
The 45-room Renaissance unit is an interdisciplinary rehabilitation program that provides individualized care to help residents become more independent. The mission is to provide safe, quality nursing care to the post-operative, orthopedic and geriatric population; respond to their needs in a timely manner and address concerns of the family.
