Sibley Memorial Hospital Receives 2014 Delmarva Excellence Award

July 21, 2014

Sibley Memorial Hospital has been recognized for excellence in quality health care by the Delmarva Foundation of the District of Columbia, receiving the organization’s 2014 Delmarva Foundation Excellence Award for Quality Improvement. Sibley also received the award last year. Sibley was the only D.C. hospital to receive the coveted award this year.

The award recognizes individual hospitals that excel in 14 measures related to patient safety and quality improvement in five national inpatient clinical areas—heart failure, surgical care improvement, pneumonia and immunization.

"We are pleased to recognize Sibley Memorial Hospital with this award," said Dr. Columbus Giles, Delmarva Foundation’s chief medical officer. "Recipients of this award possess a strong commitment to excellence and to improving the quality of care for their patients. We commend their achievements and look forward to continuing our collaboration with them to improve the health of District of Columbia’s Medicare beneficiaries."

"This is a wonderful recognition of the unwavering commitment our physicians, nurses and staff have to our patients," said Richard O. Davis, Ph.D., president of Sibley Memorial Hospital. "There are no imperatives in today’s health care more important than providing safe, quality care to those who trust their lives to us every day."
