Peter E. Petrucci, MD selected as Sibley’s new Vice President for Patient Safety, Quality and Medical Affairs

Sibley Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the selection of Peter E. Petrucci, MD as the Vice President for Patient Safety, Quality and Medical Affairs. Dr. Petrucci began his duties on February 16, 2009. His management responsibilities include the following services: Credentials Office; Employee Health/Infection Control; Medical Staff Support; Quality Coordination; Risk Management, Safety and Compliance; and Sibley-employed physicians.
Dr. Petrucci is a board certified surgeon and medical examiner. He received his MD at Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1969 and completed his internship and residency in surgery at Georgetown University affiliated hospitals. From 1974-75 Dr. Petrucci was the chief resident in surgery at Georgetown University Hospital and DC General Hospital. From 1975-78, he was an instructor in surgical oncology at Georgetown University Hospital and subsequently became the clinical assistant professor of surgery. Most recently, Dr. Petrucci was the president of Sibley’s medical staff.
