On Giving

Depending on the asset given and the gift arrangement selected, a donor can generally expect some or all of the following benefits:

Ways of Giving
  • Fulfill philanthropic goals

  • Reduce income tax through a tax deduction for the gift

  • Increase spendable income

  • Avoid capital-gains tax on the gift of long-term appreciated property

  • Retain life income for the donor and other beneficiaries

  • Eliminate federal estate tax on property passing to Sibley upon the donor's death

  • Reduce the costs and time during estate settlement

Memorial Gifts
Memorial gifts are made in memory of a deceased loved one or friend. When gifts in memory are received a letter is sent to the family of the deceased notifying them of the gift. (Please include donors complete address along with the name and address of the next of kin of the person remembered.)

Honor Gifts
Honoring someone with a donation is a special gift. You may wish to honor a family member, friend, physician, nurse or other personnel whose care you find worthy of recognition. Honor gifts offer you a way to celebrate a milestone such as a birth, anniversary, birthday, or recovery from illness. (Gifts should include complete names and addresses of donors and honorees so appropriate acknowledgements can be made.)

Gifts may be earmarked for Sibley's Endowment Fund, restricted for a specific program, or unrestricted for the area of greatest need. Contributions may also be made "in honor of" or "in memory of" someone special.

All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
