Orthopedics - Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic Surgery is the branch of surgery which focuses on treating conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.  This complex system includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves.  Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical methods to treat these conditions.  For most orthopedic disorders, there is more than one option for treatment.  Non-surgical options include medications, exercise, splinting or bracing, activity modification, and other rehabilitative or alternative therapies.  If non-surgical treatment fails, surgery may be an option.
Our orthopedic physicians our leaders in the Washington area and many are nationally recognized.  Our physicians serve as the team physicians for both professional and high school sports teams in the area.  In addition to our general orthopedic surgeons, we have fellowship trained specialists in all sub-specialties.  Last year, we performed more than 2000 orthopedic procedures at Sibley including approximately 600 hundred total joint replacements and 850 arthroscopies.  Sibley’s operating rooms are the most advanced in the area with state of the art arthroscopy equipment and high definition monitors in each room.
