Visitor Guidelines during Flu Season

For the safety of our patients, staff and community, Sibley Memorial Hospital is limiting visitors during the flu season. Visitors with flu-like symptoms are not permitted. Symptoms include fever, cough, body aches and sore throat.

Only two people per patient may visit at a time. Thank you for helping to keep Sibley safe.

Visitors are limited to no more than two at one time for each patient so as to not disturb other patients. Children under the age of 12 years are advised not to be in patient care areas. There is a visiting lounge on every floor and patients may visit with families and small children in this area.
New fathers or significant others are welcome at any time if the patient has a private room in the Family Centered Care Unit. Overnight stays are only permitted in private rooms. In semi-private rooms, regular visiting hours of 1:30 pm – 8:30 pm must be observed. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to stay over night at any time. Please limit children’s visits to the baby’s siblings.

Equal Visitation

Sibley Memorial Hospital values the importance of family presence and visitation and the positive impact it has on healing and well-being of patients. Visitation is a patient right that is balanced by the primary focus of patient care and meeting the clinical needs of all patients in the facility. Patients have the right, subject to his or her consent, to receive the visitors whom he or she designates, whether a spouse, a domestic partner (including a same-sex domestic partner), another family member, or a friend, and the right to withdraw or deny such consent at any time.
Visitation privileges shall not be restricted, limited or otherwise denied on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. All visitors designated by the patient (or representative where appropriate) enjoy visitation privileges that are no more restrictive than those that immediate family members would enjoy.
