The Endoscopy Suite
at Sibley Memorial Hospital is a six-room suite providing a full range of endoscopic services to individuals undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures on an outpatient or inpatient basis. Our facility offers the highest level of quality care for its patients before, during and after examinations. Our physicians are all board certified and the specialized nursing staff is highly trained and A.C.L.S certified. Our commitment is to ensure the safety of our patients providing the most technologically advanced possible setting.
Our procedure rooms are newly equipped with state-of-the-art equipment which includes high-definition endoscopes, digital imaging, computer generated reports and flat-screen monitors allowing physicians to detect, sample and remove abnormal tissues, even small and hard to find flat, or slightly raised polyps.
About our Endoscopy Nurse for Pelvic Floor Disorders
Carolyn Harrigan McQuighan R.N., B.S.N., C.G.R.N., is a registered nurse working in the Sibley Memorial Hospital Endoscopy Dept. Carolyn has been an endoscopy nurse since 1980 having received her AA degreee in 1971 and her BSN from George Mason Univ. in 1987. She became a certified gastroenterology registered nurse in 1988. In 2007, Sibley developed a program under the direction of Dr. Stein to assist patients with defecation disorders. Carolyn works closely with patients and their physicians to manage their fecal incontinence and chronic constipation. She teaches anatomy and physiology and, with the aide of specialized biofeedback equipment, helps patients with these disorders isolate pelvic floor muscles to better manage their symptoms.
