Screening Guidelines

The American Cancer Society recommends the following guidelines for average-risk asymptomatic women:

Age Procedure Frequency
Women, age 20+ Breast self-examination Monthly
Women, age 20-39 Clinical breast examination Every 3 years
Women, age 40+ Clinical breast examination Annually
Women, age 40+ Mammography Annually

Mammography services at the Sibley Center for Breast Health are certified by the American College of Radiology and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These certifications ensure that you will receive optimum quality mammographic examinations through peer review evaluations of the facility’s staff qualifications, equipment and quality control. Our mammography technologists are registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and have advanced certification in mammography.
