What is a Sleep Center?

A Sleep Center is a medical facility designed to evaluate people with sleep disturbances or sleep-related problems.

Common Sleep Disorder Symptoms

Poor sleep can result from many disorders including stress, insomnia and obesity. One of the most common disorders is sleep apnea, when a patient stops breathing during sleep.

New Sibley Sleep Center Room"Patients with sleep disorders often report that they do not feel rested," says Dennis Reed, assistant director of imaging services. "Spouses tend to recognize symptoms first, such as heavy snoring and waking up startled during the night unable to breathe. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should speak with their physician or a sleep specialist."

What Patients Say

"The technician who administered the test did an excellent job," says one patient. Another commented, "I can't say enough about how great everyone was with my son. Our technician was great. She went out of her way to ease my son's apprehension."
