Plastic Surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital
"We have a highly trained group of private practice plastic surgeons whose patients love coming to Sibley for their plastic surgery. They return because of the privacy and professionalism of the staff and nurses and because of the complete plastic surgery program."
G. Wesley Price, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Sibley’s Plastic Surgery Division is very active, providing both aesthetic (cosmetic) and reconstructive surgery in multiple operating rooms every day.
Dedicated Plastic Surgery Unit
Working with the Sibley staff and nurses, our plastic surgeons have developed a unique program unmatched in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. The program at Sibley offers patients the option of either outpatient or inpatient aesthetic or reconstructive surgery with a dedicated plastic surgery team. Patients can either have surgery in the plastic surgery unit in the main operating room or in our new Sibley ambulatory surgery center. We have state-of-the-art technology and equipment to provide the best surgical outcomes and have an extremely safe approach to anesthesia and patient monitoring by Sibley’s board-certified anesthesiologists.
When patients arrive they are seen by specially trained nurses in the preoperative area. After meeting the surgeon and anesthesiologist, patients are escorted to the operating room and then recovery room, all staffed by nurses and physicians assistants qualified and experienced in caring for plastic surgery patients.
"For my breast cancer reconstruction patients and others as well, Sibley Memorial Hospital allows me to work hand-in-hand with the finest physicians, nurses and support staff. All in a community hospital setting, giving my patients the best individualized care."
Dr. James R. Bruno
Commonly Performed Procedures
No other hospital offers as complete plastic surgery program as at Sibley. Commonly performed procedures include face and neck lift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, facial resurfacing, as well as all forms of breast surgery, including breast augmentation, reduction, lift and breast reconstruction. Many of our breast reconstruction patients are cared for in coordination with physicians affiliated with Sibley’s Sullivan Center for Breast Health
Body contouring procedures have increased dramatically over the last decade. These may require liposuction alone, using the latest technology and advances in liposuction, or may involve more extensive body contouring procedures. Many of the body contouring patients are either post-bariatric surgery
or weight loss, or postpartum changes.
Postoperative Overnight Program
Many of our patients choose the Postoperative Overnight Program which includes care in a private room by experienced postoperative plastic surgery nurses. This has become extremely popular with body contouring and abdominoplasty as well as some facelift and other patients who want the extra care and attention that is available with this program.
Patients have a very satisfying surgical experience with their plastic surgeons at Sibley. For further details on individual practices and procedures, please consult our list of plastic surgeons and link to their web sites.
"Sibley Memorial Hospital has the latest technology and safety is always foremost in mind."
